PolyWEC aims at the development and demonstration of a new technology, which is expected to impact the power sector by enabling the affordable and sustainable production of electricity from sea waves. To achieve such an ambitious objective, a number of diverse and extremely challenging scientific and technological issues require to be addressed, which call for a radical multidisciplinary approach.
PolyWEC technology indeed lies at the convergence of non-linear electro elasticity, fluid dynamics, polymer chemistry and control electronics. With this in mind, a highly interdisciplinary Consortium has been created by gathering together major European players in these specific fields of knowledge and expertise.
